A departmental inquiry has been initiated into the lackadaisical attitude of the two constables.
“We have taken them to task. They have been given extra drills during in the morning,” said Vishwas Nangre-Patil, additional commissioner of police (west region) who inspected the spot on Sunday.
The woman was slapped by a man she had never met before when she was jogging alone at 8.30pm. The hapless woman had approached the policemen at Juhu beach chowky, where she made to wait before being told to go to Santacruz station to lodge a complaint.
Measures have been taken to avoid more such incidents. “We have increased police patrolling points at Juhu beach and asked policemen to maintain a strict vigil,” added Patil.
“Let us hope that policemen will now help women in distress. Other initiatives such as installing CCTV cameras should also been done,” said the woman.
