The immigration authorities at the local airport detained Sant Samaj leader Baljit Singh Daduwal on Tuesday after he arrived here from London.
Confirming this, the Amritsar police said, "There was a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Daduwal as Haryana Police were looking for him in a case. As soon as Daduwal landed at the airport, the immigration authorities detained him and informed the city police."

Haryana Police had been informed and they would reach here on Wednesday to take custody of Daduwal, said a police official.

He said, "According to our information, Daduwal was booked by Haryana Police in 2007 on charges of attempt to murder and some other charges. In that case, the LOC was issued."

Daduwal is reportedly facing a number of criminal cases in Punjab and Haryana for allegedly triggering violence. He had allegedly become the rallying point for radicals to spearhead fight against Dera Sacha Sauda in the past sometime.

Sources at the airport claimed that when the flight landed at the airport at 1.30pm, the immigration authorities immediately asked for the passport of Daduwal. Thereafter, he was informed about the LOC and told that his detention was made for a pending case of 2007 in Haryana.
