A Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a passenger in Gorakhpur-bound Purabia Express.

The victim and two of her classmates were travelling from Delhi to Gorakhpur in one of the AC coaches of the train last night when the TTE allegedly misbehaved with her and attempted to rape her, the girl's father alleged in his police complaint.

The TTE of Lucknow Division fled when the girl cried for help.

Following the complaint, a team of  Moradabd GRP went to Lucknow to investigate the matter and arrested the accused, Nigam, said GRP inspector Ayub Hasan.

The TTE has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered, said Ashwini Srivastava, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Lucknow Division.
