District education officer Gurwinder Pal Kaur was also present on the occasion.
Talking about the amount spent by the state government on the training, Singh said, "The government will invest Rs. 8 lakh on classes 6 to 8, and this year 100 schools will get this training, of which 90 schools have already started with the process."
He said, "The training period is of 40 days. The government will spend Rs. 8,000 on each school - Rs. 5,000 on the trainer and Rs. 3,000 on refreshments. Scheduled Caste students of classes 9 and 10 will also undergo the training." He said they had identified 37 schools for training.
Speaking about the change the girls had felt after the training, he said it had boosted their confidence to face any challenge.
