You might have to pay much more for electricity next year, if you live in Kanjurmarg, Bhandup, Mulund, Thane or Navi Mumbai.

Mahagenco, the state power generation company, which supplies electricity to the state’s power distribution firm, Mahavitaran, has projected a 30% to 40% rise in generation costs in its 2013-14 business plan.

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission will decide on the matter by next month.
