He said that he had sought steps by both countries to promote mutual cooperation in trade, education, agriculture and other key spheres.
Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League, the main political party of Pakistan, Khan who had also been the former governor of Pakistan has links with Gumthala village near Pehowa in Kurukshetra district, the release said.
Khan had also said that though the citizens of the two countries had migrated about 65 years ago, they had keen desire to visit their ancestral places.
``Increased people-to-people contact will not only help bring the two countries closer but also solve some of the lingering problems'', he added.
Expressing happiness over the resumption of Indo-Pak cricket ties, he said that both India and Pakistan had been arch-rivals in cricket but the players on both sides played the game with a positive spirit, he added.
