The girl's abduction from Jandawala village in this district was reported on Monday, when two sisters, one aged 11 and the other 13, were raped in the state. The suspect in that case is Prem Pal, a migrant labourer from Uttar Pradesh and the girls' neighbour, who had found them home alone.
In the Jandawala crime, the girl's parents were unaware till Sunday night that she had been kidnapped. On Monday, Gurpreet Singh, station house officer of Naiyanwala, registered the complaint on the statement of the victim's father. The police recovered the girl from Farakhsar village of Muktsar district, from the house of suspects Binder Singh and Soma Kaur.
At the disclosing of the incident, suspect Gurwinder Singh managed to escape. Jaspal Kaur had a score to settle with the victim's family, and she had helped the prime suspect, Gurwinder Singh of Malout, rape the child.
"We have arrested Lakhdeep and Jaspal Kaur," said SHO Gurpreet Singh, "an a hunt is on for the rest." The case was registered under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abduction), 376 (rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 120 (concealing design to commit serious crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
