Delhiites woke up to a foggy and cold morning on Friday but were soon relieved to find the sun come out and the weather turning pleasant as the day progressed. The sun started shining in the afternoon taking temperatures up by 2.4 degrees Celsius.

The morning fog, however, affected 133 trains of which 55 trains were delayed by a few minutes to half an hour. The Indira Gandhi International Airport witnessed a spell of dense fog but flights were largely unaffected.

The sky remained clear for most part of the day but commuters were still seen wearing layers of woolens as chilly winds swept the city all day.

While the maximum temperature was recorded at 19 degrees Celsius, up from yesterday's temperature by 2.4 degrees, the minimum temperature dipped to 6.3 degrees Celsius, a degree below the normal.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 16.6 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal. The minimum remained at 9.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

The weatherman said temperatures will remain low during the weekend with cold winds blowing in the city. "The night temperatures will be around 7 degrees Celsius during the weekend and from Monday onwards it may dip to 6 degrees Celsius," said the weatherman.

At the Delhi airport, low visibility procedures had to be implemented from midnight to 9.25am on Friday. A total of 87 flights operated during this period using the instrument landing system. There were, however, no flight diversions or cancellations due to fog, even though morning flights were slightly delayed.
