If you are a resident of east Delhi, you won't have to visit the municipal offices to lodge complaints anymore.
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation has decided to open a centralised call centre for registering complaints and queries related to building plans, trade licence and
outstanding fees from next year.
The upcoming call centre, to be located at the corporation headquarters in Patparganj industrial area, would function as the co-ordinating body between the residents and different departments of the civic body.
According to civic body officials, the basic work of the call centre would range from answering queries of citizens regarding services provided by the corporation to registering their complaints, forwarding them to officers concerned and updating the complainant about the action taken report.
"Call centre professionals would answer queries related to services provided by the corporation like sanctioning of building plans, applying for trade licence, aspects of outstanding taxes and fees among others. Residents can also call on board numbers to seek details like contact numbers of concerned officials and status of service requests ," said a senior corporation official.
The officials said the call centre will be manned by a private agency selected through an open tender for a period of two years. The total cost of establishing and running the call centre is likely to be around R26 lakh.
"The call centre representatives would also log the grievances of citizens into the
universal complaint registration software of the corporation, making it easier for the officials concerned to access them," he added.
The call centre would function round the clock, all seven days a week, for three months (July 1 to September 30), and between 6am and 10pm during the rest of the nine months of the year.
