Meanwhile, the constable alleged the conductor and the driver manhandled him when he stopped them for misbehaving with another passenger on board. Both the conductor and the constable have lodged counter FIRs against each other with Mahanagar police station.
According to reports, the incident took place when constable Surendra Pal Singh boarded the bus at Badshahnagar crossing at around 7.30am. Conductor Chandra Bhushan Dubey alleged the constable got involved in verbal duel when he asked him to buy ticket. He said the constable denied taking ticket while flaunting his khaki uniform.
Dubey alleged the constable abused and beat him up. He said the constable whipped out his service revolver and pointed it on him. He said, he saved himself by jumping out of the moving bus and called up the police control room seeking help.
The constable in turn alleged the conductor and the driver for manhandling him and attempting to snatch his service revolver. He said the revolver was saved with the timely intervention of local police team that reached the spot after getting information about the incident.
Mahanagar police station incharge Veer Singh said FIR for voluntarily causing hurt, assault and threat has been registered against the constable while the conductor has been accused of voluntarily causing hurt to extort property and attempt to commit robbery. He said the primary probe however suggest that the incident is a simple case of manhandling and allegations of robbery is apparently false. The police however are further probing the matter.
