According to reports, the incident took place with Raju Verma when he and his son Abhishek Verma, was returning to Chowk after closing the shop ‘Abhishek Jewellers’ located near Malhaur crossing in Chinhat at around 7pm. Verma told the police that three miscreants intercepted their motorcycle near Malhaur Primary Health Centre. He said the miscreants intercepted them by placing a motorcycle on their way.
According to Verma, the miscreants overpowered them before they could sense the trouble and snatched two bags with ornaments after taking them on gunpoint. Verma said they also beat up his son when he tried to resist them. He said the miscreants also searched them thoroughly and took away Rs. 13,000 cash with them.
The trio fled on a motorcycle after committing the loot. He said the miscreants also threatened them with dire consequences if they approached the police. He said all the three miscreants were between the age group of 28 to 35 years. Verma is suspecting the involvement of some local person in this case who had tipped off the robbers about his movement.
District police spokesperson Alok Pathak said a police team has been deployed to probe the case but so far there is no substantial breakthrough. He said, “Some people of the locality have been quizzed and detained in this connection. The surveillance cell is also assisting the Chinhat police team.”
