In yet another rape case, a head constable along with two others was booked after a woman aspiring to join the police alleged that she was raped. The case has been registered at Ajnala police station against head constable Kulwinder Singh, wife Ranjit Kaur and Kulwinder's nephew Gurcharan Singh.

SSP Amritsar (rural) PS Virk said, "A 20-year-old woman, in her complaint, alleged that she wanted to join police as constable and regarding this, Kulwinder came to her house in November last year. She alleged that the policeman claimed that he would get her recruited to the police."

The complainant alleged that as the policeman and his wife became frequent visitors to their house, they asked her to marry Gurcharan, said the SSP.

But as the girl and her family dilly-dallied, the girl was called to the house of Kulwinder one day, where she was given a laced soft drink and was raped by Gurcharan, alleged the complainant.
The SSP said, "She complained that in October this year, she was asked by Kulwinder's family to come to Chandigarh on the pretext of recruitment. There, the woman claimed, that she was married to Gurcharan and later a petition was filed in the high court against her parents. This all happened under threat and against her will, the woman alleged in her complaint."

She alleged that one day, when she was alone home the head constable also raped her, said the SSP. The girl alleged that she remained quiet initially as she was threatened.

Virk said, "Seeing the seriousness of the charges, we have registered a case against the head constable and his nephew. As the victim alleged that the head constable's wife also connived in the crime, we have booked her also."

The SSP said, "We are going by the complaint of the woman and efforts are on to arrest the accused. SP (D) Jasdeep Singh has been asked to probe the matter and take strict action against those found guilty."

HT spoke to the woman, who wanted strict action against the culprits.
