Three persons were arrested on Saturday in two cases of alleged molestation reported in Deonar. According to the police, a 17-year-old girl was walking with her friend at Bainganwadi area in Deonar when a few persons passed lewd comments at her, a fortnight ago. The police had registered a case on Friday when the girl approached them, after which arrests were made in the case.  The police identified the four suspects and have arrested two — Parvej Shaikh and M Walmiki.

“The girl was walking on the road when the accused, who stay in the same area, allegedly passed lewd comments. We are investigating the exact sequence of events,” said GK Jogdand, police sub inspector from Deonar police station. Police stated that one of the arrested accused is a witness in a case registered against the complainant’s relative.

In another case, a 28-year-old woman filed a case against her sister-in-law’s husband.

“As per the complainant, her sister-in-law’s husband has been harassing her for the past couple of months. A couple of days ago, the accused again passed lewd comments after which the woman lodged a complaint,” said another officer from Deonar police station. The police have arrested the accused, Jubbair Shaikh, 30, in the connection with the case.
