Scientific and Social Welfare Forum on Sunday organised a protest march here to condole the Delhi gangrape. School and college students also participated in the protest march. The organisation also organised a condolence meeting at Banasar Bagh and observed two minutes silence in respect of the departed soul.

AS Mann, president of the forum, said that there was urgent need to bring in stringent laws and exemplary punishments in rape cases. "The incident should be taken as an alarm bell to frame strict laws for the crimes against women and special courts to dispose of rape cases speedily," he said.

Another member of forum, Santokh Kaur, said government should also ensure safety of women so that such incidents didn't happen in future. "It is not about Delhi only, government should providing security to women in small cities, towns and villages also," she said.

In Barnala also, activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, youth club, beopar mandal, electronic media association also paid tributes to the rape victim.
