A B Tech student of a private engineering institute in Kurukshetra was today arrested for allegedly raping his college mate, police said. The accused took the girl in his car to an isolated corner near the college on Saturday and allegedly raped her in the vehicle, they said. The victim and the accused also live in nearby sectors of a colony here.

Apart from being charged of rape, the boy has also been booked for other charges under the SC/ST Act since the victim belongs to a scheduled caste.

The police refused to divulge any further details stating that "it could affect the future investigation of the rape case".
