The maximum temperature recorded in the state capital on Sunday was 17.5 degree Celsius, six degrees below normal.
With road, rail and air traffic being badly hit, normal life was thrown out of gear.
Cold wave conditions also prevailed elsewhere in the state. Night temperatures rose markedly in Meerut and Jhansi divisions, fell in Gorakhpur division and changed a little elsewhere.
Temperature was below normal in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Bareilly and Moradabad divisions and normal in remaining areas. Weatherman predicted that weather would be mainly dry in the state and fog would affect some parts in next 48 hours.
The weatherman has also issued a warning that cold wave conditions is likely to prevail over some parts of the state in the next two days and ground frost would occur at one or two places. Temperature recorded in some major cities on Sunday was as follows: Allahabad minimum 5.2 and maximum 25.3, Gorakhpur 5.3 and 14.2, Varanasi 3.8 and 19.2, Agra 4.5 and 20.3 and Bareilly 6 and 18.3 degrees.
