Public prosecutor Gurpal Singh had demanded five-day police remand of the accused, pleading that the co-accused were yet to be arrested.
Defence lawyers Harinder Narang and Pawan Ghai said the police remand could not be extended on the plea of arrest of the co-accused. They argued that the court of duty magistrate BK Sharma had already dismissed the ground (arrest of co-accused) for police remand of the accused on December 27.
Banda's lawyer DK Malhotra said his client had been falsely implicated in the case. After hearing the arguments, the court ordered to send the accused to jail on judicial remand for 14 days. The next hearing in the case is on January 14, 2013.
The accused were taken to court on Monday afternoon. During the hearing, Johar's aides were present in the court complex. The police filmed them with a video camera before dispersing them.
Johar and others were arrested on December 26 for assaulting Mand and Passi on the night of December 24.
