Kashmir courts this weekend convicted three persons for murder in two different cases of crime which date back to the start of 21st century.
Two persons from south Kashmir will be awarded quantum of punishment on Monday after a court held them responsible for kidnapping and killing a
man in 2003 to get away with his car. In another case a North Kashmir resident was awarded life imprisonment for killing his baker-master in 2001 for Rs.
On Saturday Principal Sessions Judge in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district damned Fayaz Ahmad Shah and Muhammad Syed Bhat for killing Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, a Dupatta seller and a dealer of second-hand vehicles.
After hearing over two dozen witnesses into the case, the court in a 100 page Judgment held that ‘the prosecution has proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the duo hatched a criminal conspiracy, kidnapped the deceased with the intention to kill him’.
Public prosecutor in the case, Abbas Hamid Dar told HT that the two accused had “hoodwinked the deceased into believing that they will purchase his Alto vehicle and instead killed him to run away with his car”.
"The case was cracked after the Alto car was recovered by police from a person who had bought it,” said Dar. The court has listed the case for Monday to pronounce the quantum of punishment.
Earlier on Friday, the Principal Sessions Court of Srinagar awarded a man to rigorous life imprisonment for killing his master in sleep with an iron rod in 2001.
Muhammad Ramzan Dhobi, a resident of remote area of Handwara near Line of Control, was convicted under section 302 of RPC for murdering his master Abdul Rashid Dar, a baker of Srinagar living near Mughal garden Shalimar.
The deceased had engaged Dhobi to work in his bakery after the latter approached Dar for a job.
On December, 23, 2001, the duo did not return home after Dhobi saw his master receiving some money from his wife. Next day, Dar was found murdered inside the furnace of the bakery. An iron rod used in assaulting Dar to death was found outside the shop.
After the crime, police arrested Dhobi and recovered a wrist watch of Dar from his possession. Court granted him life sentence after he confessed of killing Dar for Rs. 10,000.
