Nearly 200 posters were pasted in Bhikhi and Budhlada blocks of Mansa district in the wee hours, and the content also uploaded on social networking website Facebook. Within hours of it, at team led by superintendent of police (detective) Pushkar Sandal arrested the suspects from Bhikhi block.
The case is registered under Sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion), 295-A (hurting religious sentiments), and 505 (statements amounting to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The appearance of posters on walls had scared villagers at Bhikhi and Budhlada, said senior superintendent of police Narinder Bhargav.
The SP's team that caught the suspects included deputy superintendent of police Sulakhan Singh and the station house officers of Bhikhi and Budhlada. A case each has been registered the two places. The suspects used to meet at a religious place in Cheema Mandi of Sangrur district to plan disruptive activities, the police have added.
