The Trinamool Congress came under fire on Wednesday after a local party boss was caught on camera dancing with skimpily clad women and showering money on them during an event to mark the party’s foundation day.

Anyal, a small-time district leader, was filmed matching steps with the dancers on Tuesday. The images were flashed across TV channels on Wednesday, forcing TMC to take action.

The party suspended an undisclosed number of functionaries for organising the event, and asserted that chief minister Mamata Banerjee did not approve of such activities.

“We will find out in 48 hours who was behind this crass, cheap show,” said Derek O’Brien, a Rajya Sabha member from the party.
