A 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by unidentified persons in Garh Padhana village of Nawanshahr district on December 31.
The police have registered a case under sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) and 366 A (Procreation of minor girl) against unknown persons on January 1 on the complaint of girl’s father Jarnail Singh and have started investigation into this incident.

According to information, Jarnail Singh has stated in his complaint that he is working as a driver with ex-sarpanch of Garh Padhana village for past few years adding that when he returned from work on December 31 around 7 pm, his wife told him that their daughter had not returned from the market, following which he and his relatives started searching for her.

He further added that her daughter had gone to market around 4.30 pm.

On Tuesday, the family filed a complaint with Rahon police station.

Investigation officer Harjinder Singh told that police have started its investigation and have raided at several places and inquired from suspected persons about the girl but have not got any clue in the case so far.

This is second incident of abduction of a minor girl within eight days that has been registered at Rahon police station.

On December 25, 60-year-old Puran of Mujaffarpur village also filed a complaint with Rahon police that his 14-year-old daughter was allegedly abducted by Raju of Dheerna village when she went to market to purchase dailyneed material.

A case under registered a case under sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) and 366 A (Procreation of minor girl) against Raju.

SHO Rahon police station, Surinder Chand said, “We have raided at many cities including Moga, Ludhiana and nearby areas after getting locations of accused’s mobile but police have yet to get any success into this incident.
