The cold wave may be troubling a number of people, including the homeless, in Delhi but those living in the National Capital Region (NCR) are worse off.

The minimum temperature on Friday touched 0.6 degrees Celsius in the Hindon area —which includes Sahibabad and Vasundhara. The temperature in Gurgaon was not any better at 0.7 degrees Celsius. Faridabad saw a low of 1.7 degrees Celsius.

Residents of the NCR usually see worse winters than those who live in Delhi, as the towns are spread out and have a lot of fields and empty spaces which reduce the temperature.

“People in Delhi may be complaining about the low temperatures but we usually see temperatures that are a couple of degrees lower. My five-year-old son saw the temperature on Friday and wondered if it would snow in Gurgaon,” said Mahesh Yadav, an MNC employee who lives in Ardee City, Gurgaon.

Residents of Vasundhara complained about the cold. “I live in a high-rise and the low temperatures and the strong winds have made the cold unbearable,” said Indu Makkar.
