The 46 proposed parking lots in New Gurgaon areas are yet to become operational as the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has not got enough bidders for these facilities. According to Huda officials, no contractor has applied for eight of the 15 parking sites earmarked in Sector 29, one of the commercial hubs of the city.  The authority had invited bids for 46 parking lots in the New Gurgaon areas recently but since the number of bidders is less, Huda is taking time to scrutinize the applicants and finalise the allotment.

 A senior Huda official said on Friday that two big parking lots in Sector 29 — one in front of hotel Optus Sarovar and the other at Bikaner restaurant-- have been made free. But, there has been no contender yet for eight parking sites in the area. The bidders probably don’t find them as profitable sites, said the official, adding that the authority will float revised tenders for those eight sites.

“We have received nearly 30 bids only for the 46 sites we earmarked. The highest bid offering collection of R6.5 lakh per month came for the parking site near the Gateway Tower in Cyber City,” the official said.

As per the tender guidelines, the upcoming parking lots will be run under strict monitoring and regulation by Huda and lapses on the part of the contractor will invite heavy penalty, including termination of the contract.
