Cardiac arrest claims prisoner's life
A 25-year-old prisoner, lodged in Modern Jail near Kapurthala died due to cardiac arrest on Friday night, police said.
Jail Superintendent Sikandar Singh revealed that health of Anil Kumar, a resident of Garha in Jalandhar, deteriorated on late Friday evening. "He was referred to Kapurthala civil hospital for treatment at 8.50 pm where doctors tried saving him but eventually declared him dead at 9.40 pm."
Kumar was lodged in Modern Jail three months back and was serving two year imprisonment in a case of theft, sources said.
The deceased's body was handed over to his relatives after the post-mortem.
