Fed up of constant eve teasing and harassment by local youths, two college girls attempted suicide in two separate incidents in Akola and Buldhana districts, police said on Saturday.

In the incident that took place in Akola district, a college girl residing near police station in Akot tehsil, nearly 40 kms from Akola, attempted suicide by hanging herself at her house on Friday afternoon.

However, two children noticed this and raised an alarm and she was later admitted to a private clinic here. The girl is studying in first year science branch of Shri Shivagi college in Akot, is reported to be stable now, police said.

The eve-teaser Vijay Takle (28) and one minor boy have been taken into custody for interrogation.

In the second incident reported at Mehkar in the neighbouring Buldhana district, where the college going girl tried to commit suicide by consuming poison.

One Sarthak Dixit and his friends Akshay Rathod, S K Razik were allegedly harassing her. The girl was hospitalised and later discharged. Police have not arrested anybody in this case so far.
