Polaroid, once famous for its instant cameras, has officially launched a seven-inch tablet aimed at children in the lead-up to this year's International Consumer Electronics Show, due to be held in Las Vegas January 8-11.
The Polaroid Kids Tablet boasts an Android 4.0 operating system and combines a number of tailored apps such as Kids Cam, Music Studio and Draw -- that the company claims will encourage children to develop and showcase their creative skills -- with a number of security features to ensure parents can control the content their kids can access, plus reinforced bumpers around its edges to reduce the risk of accidental damage.

The tablet, which is set to retail for $149.99, has been named a CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree.

Other features include a rear-mounted 2MP camera, 8GB of internal storage plus an SD memory expansion slot, wi-fi internet connectivity and 35 premium apps preloaded onto the device as well as a number of e-books.
