A senior official told Hindustan Times that the enforcement wing had adopted a zero tolerance policy after local residents torched police vehicles during a demolition drive recently.
The official said survey work had been expedited in the restricted areas. On the other hand, area residents alleged that hundreds of new structures were under construction in the restricted 900-metre zone and the enforcement wing had selected only a few structures to demolish.
Refuting the allegations, the official, said, “This is not true. Our survey team reports to the deputy commissioner and the MCG commissioner in this regard.”
