Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and union external affairs minister Salman Khurshid to take early steps for setting up of visa centre in Amritsar to meet the demand of increased business and trade activities through ICP at Attari border.

In an informal meeting with the Prime Minister and union external affairs minister on the sidelines of 11th Parvasi Bhartiya Divas , Badal requested to take up the issue of upgradation of infrastructure with his counterpart in Pakistan as exporters and importers were facing bottlenecks at Pakistan side and perishable goods exporters were the worst sufferers.

Badal also requested the Prime Minster and union external affairs minister to expedite the notification of Attari as full-fledged dry port, allowing export and import of 6,000 goods as agreed with the Pakistan government. He said that the Punjab government was ready to provide total infrastructure support to union government for successful implementation of this proposal.
