The Punjab government has banned the entry of sleeper coach buses registered in other states. According to a notification issued by state transport department, if the buses enter despite orders, these would be impounded.
The matter of plying of sleeper buses was under the scanner of even the Punjab and Haryana high court. 

Ludhiana district transport officer Manpreet Singh Chhatwal said the orders landed in his office on Thursday and were to be implemented with immediate effect. He said these buses are meant to ferry only tourists, but were ferrying usual passengers from one state to other.
