The local court directed the victim to be sent to a shelter home, Nari Niketan, after she refused to go back to her parents. On the contrary, the girl wanted to stay with Vikas, who, she said, she loved.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (Central) Ashish Kapoor said the minor had gone missing from her Panjab University home on November 29 last year. Her father Ramesh Kumar had also registered a missing persons report with the police.
The DSP informed that the minor girl had come back home after five days. The girl, in a statement to the local court, had said that she had gone of her own accord.
Two days ago the girl had complained of abdomen pain and was found to be pregnant.
The parents approached the police on Saturday and complained about the matter. The police registered a case of rape after a medical examination and Vikas was arrested.
The minor girl was later produced before a local court. The court referred her case to the social welfare department and ordered a psychiatrist from Sector-16 general hospital to counsel the minor.
