As many as 28 electric sub-stations in the NDMC area have been connected with the control room through 52km-long fibre optic cables. The project was first announced four years ago and has been completed after 28 months of construction at the cost of Rs. 10 crore.
"The control room provides real-time information of electrical parameters of the connected sub-stations at a centralised location. The facility will strengthen the monitoring and management of electricity supply in the NDMC areas," said an official.
The municipal body also inaugurated four portable cabins at Gole Market, Udyan Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Raja Bazar. These cabins can be used by senior citizens as well as other residents for recreation and for other community gatherings.
