An MBA graduate and two others, including a government hospital staff, were arrested on Saturday by the northwest Delhi Police for allegedly making extortion calls in the name of Chhota Rajan to a north Delhi-based businessman. Ranvijay Rao, 27, an MBA graduate, Mohammad Asif, 27, a technical assistant in a government hospital and Manjoor Khan, 27, a class 12 drop-out, were arrested for allegedly demanding R15 lakh from the businessman. According to the police, Asif used to make the calls posing as Chhota Rajan.

MA Rizvi, additional DCP (northwest), said the arrested trio was a part of an inter-state gang operational in Delhi and Gujarat.

"The gang used to threaten affluent people under the pseudonym of Chhota Rajan and used to demand money," said Rizvi, adding that the arrests were made following investigations into a complaint lodged by a businessman from Pitampura at the Maurya Enclave police station on January 2.

The complainant had been  receiving extortion calls of R15 lakh from unknown callers on behalf of Chhota Rajan. Considering the gravity of the matter, Rizvi said the mobile phones of the callers had been put on electronic surveillance. Police had also started keeping a watch on the complainant and his factory workers. Asif was arrested while collecting the money.
