The police have booked two people for assaulting a constable on duty near Sector 28 market on Sunday. Station house officer, Sector 26, inspector Anokh Singh said the suspects have been identified as brothers Wasim and Sakil, both residents of Sector 57. They entered into a confrontation with Satpal who runs a shop in the market, in an inebriated condition. The two beat him up after which police were informed. Constable Satinder, who was on duty, was beaten up when he intervened. One of them hit Satinder on head with his wireless set.
Wasim and Sakil tried to escape in their car, which they rammed into a car parked nearby. Wasim suffered injuries and was arrested while his brother managed to escape.

Satinder and Wasim were rushed to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. The suspects have been booked for voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty (Section 332), assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty (353) of the Indian Penal Code in a case registered at the Sector 26 police station. The police are yet to arrest second suspect involved in the crime.
