In Gurgaon, the number of women cops is 345, less than 10% of the total staff strength of 3,688.
The police have also planned to double the number of woman PCRs in the state so as to curb crime against women more effectively, the DGP said, adding that a lady officer of the deputy superintendent of police or inspector rank has already been appointed as nodal officer in each district.
In case of crime against women, the police officials have been told to arrest the accused within 24 hours and file a chargesheet in 30 days.
A committee comprising a deputy commissioner, a superintendent of police and a district attorney has been constituted at district level, while a committee of DGP and home secretary is functional at the state level, the police chief said.
