Here’s a fair where you can take your pet for a fun day out and also get home some goodies for it. With an aim to spread awareness about pets and to organise fun activities for pets and owners alike, the India International Pet Fair 2013 will kick off this Friday. The main idea behind this three-day pet fair is to make people responsible pet owners. They need to be aware of the responsibility that comes along with keeping a pet, says Binoy Sahee, director of the fair.

One of the most exciting features of the fair will be the Canine Café. Since there aren’t any pet-friendly restaurants or cafes in the city, this one will give you an opportunity to hangout with your pooch as you enjoy a cup of coffee. One can buy doggie dabbas, cakes and cookies for dogs at the café. These are all safe for them, says Sahee.

Stalls selling pet food, pet accessories and healthy products will also be put up at the fair. To add a dash of fun, activities such as grooming sessions, a dog fashion and obedience show, and a game of hide and seek in which the pet has to search for its owner, will
also be organised.

A dog whisperer from Australia will take sessions with dog owners on handling the pet and dealing with behaviour problems. He will also deal with issues faced by the pet by whispering and talking to the pooch.

Also, stalls by NGOs promoting adoption of puppies and gallery of popular breeds of dogs will be put up at the fair. There is an entry fee of R90 per person while entry for pets is free. The participation fee for the pet fashion and obedience show is R50, says Sahee.
