It’s that time of the year when Bollywood brings their A-game to the red carpet. As awards season goes underway, the stars and their stylists hunt for the perfect outfits. Vogue India’s fashion director Anaita Shroff Adajania and celebrity stylist Archana Walavalkar break down the sartorial
choices that our leading ladies veer towards, and how they can change things around this season.
Anaita: There’s a natural ease to her. Even when she is in track pants, she manages to look like the superstar she is. I’d love to see her dress like an English rose.
Archana: Her style is feminine, with floor-length dresses. I’d love to see her move out of safe zone and go bold — with her hair too.
Anaita: An unpredictable dresser who is intriguing and fun. I’d love to see her
portray the woman in charge on the red carpet with a tuxedo-style jacket worn over a mid-slit black gown and clean makeup.
Archana: It would be exciting to see her get away from bling and channel a natural look, with structure.
Anaita: She has the quality of moving from high street to couture, and creating a statement. I’d love to see her in something like a dramatic black-and-white, ruffled dress. and matte red lips.
Archana: I’d love to see her in a minimal yet sexy dress, or go with flow, print and colour.
Anaita: There’s great energy to the way she dresses. It’s no-nonsense, clean fashion. She should go for a young look with a Gothic edge.
Archana: She has a dream body and can nail varied looks. She’d look fantastic in any kind of fresh, fun and super urban get-up.
Anaita: Rock chic describes her aesthetic. She always looks ready to party in body-sculpted shapes. A sculpted dress will enhance her bronzed skin and shape.
Archana: For someone who opts for body-con options, she can carry off an edgy look and sport the new covered-up-sexy trend.
