The nursing home, which prescribed Jyoti's pregnancy termination is likely to get a clean chit. According to sources, the UT health department has found that Jindal IVF Centre, the name of which cropped up in the case, had maintained proper record and conveyed to the health department about termination of Jyoti's pregnancy timely.

Significantly under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act 1971, it is mandatory for each centre to maintain proper record of termination of each pregnancy and provide it to the health department each month.

Significantly, director health services (officiating) Dr Rajiv Wadhera had marked an inquiry in the case to check whether the centre where medicine was prescribed to Jyoti for termination of pregnancy, had supplied the record to the health department or not.

The private centres have to provide the details of termination of each pregnancy, whether it is surgical or medical to the health department, so that the health department could follow up these cases to rule out the possibility of female foetcide.
