A 17-year-old girl of Khanaura village was allegedly raped by a   resident of the same village on Thursday. In her complaint to the Mehtiana police, the girl said that on Thursday morning while waiting for a bus to her school in Padhrana, the accused Pawan Kumar asked her to sit on his bike after threatening her with a knife.

She alleged that she was taken to a tubewell room in Badla village and raped. The accused released her in the evening and she reported the matter to her parents.

Mehtiana SHO Karnail Singh said that the accused was arrested late on Friday from Phuglana, about 10 km from Khanaura. He said that the place the girl was taken to, belonged to one of Pawan’s friends. Even the motorcycle he used to pick up the girl belonged to someone else, he said.

“The girl’s medical examination confirmed rape, following which a case was registered against the accused,” the SHO said.

Sources revealed that both the families lived close by and knew each other well.

The Mehtiana police have arrested the accused and registered a case under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (inducing a woman to compel her for marriage), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against him.
