“I acted in Death Of A Salesman 20 years ago, but took up direction after that. I stopped acting then, except for playing Jinnah in Gandhi (1982). Raëll urged me to get back on the stage and I always listen to my daughters like an obedient father. I have been missing the thrill of being on the stage,” says Padamsee.
Death Of A Salesman is a family drama about love and hate with sharp dialogues. The production also stars Sabira Merchant, Farrokh Mehta, Farid Currim, Rayo Noble, Neel Tolani, Jim Sarbh and newcomers Nishith Dhanak, Cyndy Khojol and Nivvy Randhawa. “Sabira, who plays my wife, has been a tower of strength. Raëll found me two brilliant actors Neel and Jim, who play my sons. And I have the veteran Farrokh Mehta playing Willy’s (protagonist played by Padamsee) best friend, which he did 20 years ago as well,” says Alyque. This family drama premieres on January 20. “I believe this modern masterpiece is going to thrill young audiences,” says Padamsee.
