Ramban SP Anil Magotra said, "We had started the snow clearance work at 7 am and the highway was cleared at 10 am this morning."
"About 700 stranded vehicles, including 100 passenger vehicles, have been cleared and fresh traffic from Srinagar to Jammu will be allowed on Sunday."
Around 100 passenger vehicles, including buses, taxis, tempo traveler, etc., and 210 trucks/load carriers were stranded on 100 km stretch from Patnitop to Jawahar tunnel for the past two days due to heavy snow enroute.
Only one-sided traffic has been allowed on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for the last two months, due to slippery conditions of the road. The air traffic was also restored on Saturday, all five airlines from Jammu to Srinagar were cancelled on Friday due to heavy snowfall in the Valley.
Meanwhile, Jammu has observed a bright sunny day in the city and partially cloudy sky on the outskirts.
The Weather department of Srinagar forecasts, "Light rain/snow would occur at few places over the Kashmir Division and hills of the Jammu division."
