Mutilated body of infant found
The body of an infant, partly eaten by stray dogs, were found from Peerdad locality near here on Friday.
According to the sources, the body was noticed by a passerby, who saw some stray dogs fighting for some substance, which was later identified as mortal remains of an infant. He then informed the police.
Later, PCR team reached the spot and recovered the body. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Sarabjit Singh said that it seemed that the newborn was abandoned by the parents immediately after its birth.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under Section 317 (abandoning the child by parents) against unidentified parents and efforts were on to identify the accused, the ACP said.
