Three youth were run over by a speeding Rajdhani train near Maharajpur on Sunday evening when a group of four friends had gone their to click pictures with the train in the background.

While two of them died on the spot, the third succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Kaushambi late Sunday night, police said.

The incident took place in the Link-Road area where a group of five school children were run over by a train on November 27, 2008.

On Sunday, Rohit, one of the four friends who survived, told police that the group was heading towards Link-Road after distributing pamphlets in Surya Nagar and nearby areas. Around 4.50pm, Ishwar, 19, Monu, 24, and Kamal asked Rohit to click a photograph when a train would pass behind them.

However, they forgot to note that an incoming train was running towards them on the same track. Soon, they were run over by a Rajdhani train while posing for the picture.

Ishwar and Kamal studied in class 12 at Gandhi Memorial School at Shahdara while Monu and Rohit worked at a printing-press at Chawri Bazar in Delhi, police said."They were trying to prepare a picture clip with a speeding train behind them. We have reminded the authorities about the demands of the local people for the construction of an underpass at the spot," circle officer (CO) RK Pandey said.
