Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure, on Monday announced that the service, connecting New Delhi with Dwarka via IGI Airport, would resume at 5.30am on Tuesday.
Admitting that such drastic drop in speed may not excite commuters, Jitendra Tyagi, director (works), DMRC, said: “The commissioner of metro rail safety has restricted the speed to 50 kmph.”
Trains will run daily from 5.30am to 11.30pm every 15 minutes.
“Why would one travel by the line and shell out Rs. 100 when DTC buses charge a much lower fare?” asked VK Rathore, a commuter.
Commuters pay Rs. 50 for DTC buses that run 24 hours a day every 10 minutes from New Delhi to the airport and take 45 minutes to cover the distance.
