The snatchers turned around and noticed one Pinki Singh, barely 70 metres from the spot where they had tried to rob Shubham.
"They stopped their bike near me and brandished a gun. They asked me hand over the gold chain. I gave them the chain but as soon as they escaped, I shouted for help," said Singh, who is a resident of Beta-I society.
Hearing Singh's cries for help, some people gathered and tried to stop the snatchers. Some of them chased after the bike on foot. And one man who tried to stop the criminals by blocking their way with his car was shot at by the snatchers.
"I saw the assailants pointing a gun at the woman and robbing her. So I drove my car in their direction to stop them. But they shot at me; the bullet hit my arm and then hit the glass of the car," said Sonu, a government employee. The assailants managed to flee.
Sonu was taken to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida where he was discharged after treatment.
Police have registered an FIR at Kasna police station on a complaint filed by Singh. "We are yet to identify the assailants but have registered the case and have started investigation," said a senior police officer.
