The traffic police penalised 225 motorists for driving in the wrong lane of the Gurgaon-Jaipur Expressway on Monday.

Following complaints about heavy traffic jams near the Kherki Daula toll plaza, seven traffic inspectors along with two SHOs and their teams were deployed on the expressway throughout the day.

The special drive started around 11am from Kherki Daula toll plaza till Sirhaul toll plaza and went on till evening.

ACP (traffic) Ravinder Tomar said, "Vehicles moving in wrong lanes create traffic jams on the expressway. Heavy vehicles are supposed to drive in the extreme left lane so that other vehicles can easily pass through."
