The chief secretary has been appointed the committee's chairman while the principal secretary, freedom fighter, financial commissioner, revenue, principal secretary finance, union joint secretary of home department and secretary, freedom fighter department, have been appointed its other members.
The committee will prepare a draft policy to make legal heirs of martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre eligible for getting pension and other facilities.
The notification said that to prepare a list of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the freedom fighter department had contacted the director general of archives, New Delhi, vice-chancellors of Panjab University, Punjabi university and Guru Nanak Dev University and the Jallianwala Bagh Trust.
The government has also issued a notification for giving freedom fighter status to martyrs of Kuka Namdhari Andolan, 1871.
