Senior Punjab BJP leader Balramji Dass Tandon on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately sack union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde for his anti-Hindu and anti-national remarks, failing which he would sit on dharna outside the PM's house in New Delhi.
"I would request the Prime Minister to take immediate action and sack Shinde. Otherwise, even at the age of 86, I will be forced to sit at dharna in front of the PM's residence," said Tandon.

Tandon said Shinde, in the presence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh at Jaipur recently, had spoken about Hindu and saffron terror training being given by the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

The fact that none of the two senior leaders has rebuked or contradicted Shinde's highly inflamatory and condemnable statement clearly shows that the Congress and the central government fully back the statement, said Tandon.

The BJP leader said the issuance of such a statement by a dignitary such as the home minister had severely bashed the country's long-standing approach on terrorism.

It has seriously damaged the country's attack on Pakistan regarding the latter's involvement in terrorist activities in India and elsewhere. It has jeopardised India's often-repeated argument in the United Nations and with other countries regarding terrorism, Tandon claimed.

Shinde's statement has provided a "serious handle" to Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan and mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, he added.

Attacking the opposition parties in a democratic set up, is a genuine work of a political party.  Supporting a particular vote bank, can also be understood, but bypassing all the legitimate barriers and lowering the interest of the country to the irreparable position like the one, which Shinde has done, is unpardonable, said Tandon .
