Director Abhishek Chaubey’s sequel to his 2010 hit Ishqiya, titled Dedh Ishqiya, seems to have run into a roadblock again. After actor Kangana Ranaut recently walked out of the project citing date issues, the director is now left without a female actor to star alongside the leading lady, Madhuri Dixit.

“I don’t know who I am romancing this time,” says Arshad Warsi, who will be paired opposite the second female lead actor. “I have no clue as to who has been roped in as Kangana’s replacement. I will know only when I reach the sets.”

The film, which was earlier supposed to go on the floors in November, is now expected to roll in February. As per reports, the schedule was postponed due to the director’s wedding that took place around then last year. It was due to this change that the actors’ dates had to be rebooked.

While Arshad and Naseeruddin Shah, his co-star, managed to work their time around, Kangana opted out due to a clash with her other projects. “I was looking forward to working with her. She’s a very talented actor,” says Arshad. However, there is no news of who will play her role.

Just like the original, the sequel too is set in the hinterland. “It’s an interesting script. Ishqiya was great, but this is better,” insists Arshad, whose long-stalled Zila Ghaziabad (ZG) is also set to release soon.

The actor plays a rustic character in this film too. “The only similarity between the characters is that they are set in the interiors of north India.

In ZG, I play a completely negative role,” he says.
