Only a month ago, the corporation had made it possible to sanction plots on notified roads and industrial plots online. When the project was first launched in November 2011, only residential plots could apply for the scheme.
"Within the next 15 days, it will be possible to sanction buildings from village abadi areas. After that the scheme will be extended further," said a senior official of the South Corporation.
Interested parties looking to build a house have to visit www.mcdonline.gov.in <http://www.mcdonline.gov.in> where there is an option for building plan sanction. The page has a list of architects empanelled online by the corporation for facilitating owners in preparing building plans as per by-laws. To get the building plan sanctioned, the property owner can get in touch with the architect who will prepare the drawings.
Once that is done, the applicant submits the plan to the civic agency for clearance. The process puts the onus of safe buildings on the architect and makes the process hassle-free for property owners.
"At the same time, however, the online sanctioning can sometimes lead to harassment since the architect becomes the sole manager of a plan. That's why the corporation must keep the option of manually sanctioning building plans," said an official. Ever since the online sanctioning of plans was implemented, the manual sanctioning has been disabled. A building plan sanction is a must before starting construction in Delhi.
