A judge, posted in Gonda district court, has been accused of molesting a minor girl and a woman during the recording of their statements. The Kotwali police had brought the two before the judicial magistrate in connection with a case of elopement.
The two friends, residents of Gonda, 100 km east of Lucknow, had allegedly eloped with two men last week. They were recovered on Tuesday and that very evening, were produced before the judge for the recording of their statements. The two have filed a written complaint with district police chief Navnit Rana.

The Allahabad high court has sought a report from the district judge, said a government official. “It is now for the district court and high court to decide the case,” Rana said.

On Wednesday, the civil bar association resorted to agitation when they came to know about the incident. The lawyers have demanded action against the magistrate.
